Find Out What Is Television Show Shri Krishna’s Lead Actor Sarvadaman Banerjee Doing Now

We all are getting to watch yesteryear shows again during the Coronavirus lockdown. After Ramayan and Mahabharat getting telecasted again, it is time for Ramanand Sagar’s Shri Krishna to re-run on the television. One of the most popular shows of its time between 1993 to 1996, it took the audience through the Bhagwat Purana, Vishnu Purana, Brahma Vairvata Purana, Harivamsa, Garg Samhita, Padma Puran, Bhagwadgita and even Mahabharat.

While the show wasn’t a big success on Indian television but it did gain fame and fortune. However, the show’s leading man actor Sarvadaman D. Banerjee who played Shri Krishna decided to opt-out of the limelight as he was unhappy with how Bollywood works and he now teaches meditation in Rishikesh.

Sarvadaman Banerjee’s portrayal of Krishna had enlivened the celestial being, bringing him to such proximity with his character that we could literally feel him. Born on 14 March 1965 in Magarwada, Unnao, Sarvadaman did his schooling from St. Aloysius School in Kanpur and graduated from the Pune Film Institute. He later worked in Hindi, Telugu and Bengali films throughout his career. However, the serial Shri Krishna was what brought him great recognition. Apart from this, Sarvadman also worked in a few other spiritual projects like Adi Shankara, Dattatreya and Swami Vivekananda. When portraying such characters, one has to read up a lot, one has to have a psyche that would immerse you in their world, their thought process and their depth and Sarvadaman did have a psyche that was prone to immersing. He immersed himself in such a manner that he took to that kind of life (in a way).

After playing a brilliant role in many television shows and movies, Sarvadaman Banerjee decided to stay out of this glamour industry. He is nowadays in Rishikesh where he runs a meditation centre of his own in a sweltering atmosphere between rivers and mountains. People come from across the world to experience world class yoga and meditation at his centre. Apart from this, he also runs an NGO named Wings of Sarvadaman that takes care of the education of about 200 children and provides training to 50 poor women to make life worth living.

He was last seen in Sushant Singh Rajput’s film MS Dhoni where he played the role of Dhoni’s coach Chanchal Bhattacharya.
