Akshay Kumar Trolled for Praising Pakistani Fans, But Twitterati Backed Him Up Like Anything

Superstar Akshay Kumar was last seen in Rajinikanth’s 2.0. Directed by S Shankar and produced by Subaskaran under the banner of Lyca Productions, the movie was created on an estimated budget of Rs 543 crore and its box office collection stands at an estimated Rs 800 crore. The rumour mills are abuzz that Akshay may reunite with S Shankar for his next biggie, Indian 2, starring Kamal Haasan.

Akshay Kumar is also well known among fans for his patriotism. Even most of his movies have desh bhakti vibes in it: Holiday (in which played an Indian soldier), Baby (he essayed the character of an Indian Intelligence officer), Airlift, and then Rustom (he played the role of a navy officer and also won a National Award for that).

Now, despite all this, an old interview of the actor, in which he praised Pakistani fans, has resurfaced on the internet.

Akshay can be heard saying:

“Pakistan mein meri filmein sabse zyada business karti hai. Jitna pyar mujhe wahan se milta hai, shayad hi kahin se milta hai (My films do the best business in Pakistan. The amount of love I get from the country, I hardly get that kind of love from anywhere else).”

Here is the video:

However, as soon as the video was circulated online, netizens became furious and started taking a dig at the actor. Check out some of the reactions:

However, in all this, people have also come out in his support.

One Twitter user reminded everyone that he is the ‘highest tax-paying actor’ and that he launched the fundraising initiative Bharat Ke Veer to help Army families. This Independence Day, Akshay will be seen in Mission Mangal, Bollywood’s ‘first space film’.
